Canada has been a popular destination for workers from the earliest days of pioneering until now. The Canadian government acknowledges that the need for international workers is an ongoing requirement only when there are not enough Canadians to fill open positions. Workers who have a long term vision for themselves are more likely to succeed because the job market in Canada is competitive and employers are seeking the best candidates. Even when a trade or profession is in high demand in Canada, validation of a worker's experience and skills are required. 

Entry Level
These are workers who may or may not have finished secondary school, but have the skills and experience to do work such as retail sales, labour, kitchen helper, serving in restaurants, and jobs that do not require trade, professional, or vocational experience or training. Canada changes its emphasis and need for entry level workers based on the number of Canadian citizens and permanent residents needing these jobs.

Semi-Skilled
These are jobs such as truck driving and heavy equipment operators, and are often in high demand. This category of workers usually has trade experience, or vocational training, and often must have certificates to demonstrate health and safety compliance.

Skilled Workers
The highest demand for workers in Canada comes under this category, but in the past statistics show that these were not always the highest volume of workers cleared to enter Canada. The Government of Canada has taken new steps since January 2015 to screen to ensure that skilled workers, especially those required in the labour market are those most likely to be cleared to enter Canada. However, it is very important that skilled workers do the required preparation to meet the stringent screening to be able to emigrate and work in Canada and meet the needs of employers seeking their specific skills.
